Pantawid Pamilya RPMO Awards Exemplary Performers

Recognition was given to the Municipal Link of Alang-Alang Leyte as Best Advocate of Communal Garden, who exemplifies initiative and shares expertise advocating communal garden as best practice of beneficiaries. Award given by Regional Director Remia Tapispisan (right) and Chief of Policy and Plans Division, Yvonne Abonales (left)The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (Panatwid Pamilya) Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) gave recognition to exemplary performance of Pantawid Pamilya Provincial Operations Offices down to staff individual performances were given recognition by the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 during the 2012 Year End Program Implementation Review last February 19, 2013 at the Sabin Resort Hotel, Ormoc City.

The RPMO, through the leadership of Regional Director Remia Tapispisan- identified staff and provincial offices that have excellent performances during the past year. The basis of the awards were along the areas of the Pantawid Pamilya namely; the Compliance Verification, Beneficiary Data Management and Grievance and Redress. Read the full story

DSWD REHAB CENTER OPENS DOOR TO PUBLIC; INVITES EVERYONE TO WATCH U.S. NAVY SEVENTH FLEET PERFORM

RRCY youths gather outside the dormitory during the Center's anniversary celebration held February 14 of this year. The institution is always filled with activities.The DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth or RRCY will open its door tomorrow, March 1, for the public to watch the U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Band conduct a master class for the 62 residents of this Center.

The visit will give the Children-in-Conflict-with-Law (CICL) residing at the Center a rare opportunity to interact with America’s high – energy band. Marcela Lim, Head Social Worker of the RRCY, bared that the Center has already an existing band, with musical instruments donated by the UNICEF. Read the full story

MORE THAN PHP26 M IN SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM FUNDS RELEASED FOR REGION VIII IN 2012

A total of Php 26,798,000.00 in capital assistance, under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department, was released in year 2012 for Region Eight, reported Hermanito Mangalao, the Regional Project Development Officer of the DSWD Field Office Eight.

Eighty percent of the total 2,757 recipients, or 2,223 are beneficiaries of sets one and two areas of the Pantawid Pamilyang Program (Pantawid Pamilya) a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program of the Department, which invests on the health, nutrition, and education of zero to 14 – year-old children of poor households. TANAUAN BRINGS COMPUTER LITERACY FROM THE BARRIOS TO DSWD REHAB CENTER

SEXUAL ABUSE : A COMMON CASE AMONG CHILDREN SEEKING REFUGE IN DSWD CENTERS

Alicia Bolante, O.I.C. of the Home for Girls speaks her heart out on the issue of child sexual abuse.Social workers heading the DSWD’s Home for Girls and the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) bared in a recent interview that child sexual abuse still ranks among the highest or is a common case among residents of their respective facilities.

The two Center Heads reported this, in the light of the recent observance of the 17th National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, celebrated February 9 to 17.

Alicia Bolante, Officer-In-Charge of the Home for Girls, said that as of to date, there are 43 cases. Of said number, 22 are victims of rape and 13 are incest cases. The rest are cases of trafficking – 6; neglect – 1; and a child witness – 1. Read the full story

DSWD Says No to Epal and Yes to Empowering Pantawid Pamilya Beneficiaries

No more threats. No more Epal.

These are the main thrusts of Bawal Ang Epal Dito Campaign of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to be launched from January to May 2013 to protect the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, from undue politicking and interventions that may affect the program’s integrity.

Dswd Regional Director Remia Tapispisan disclosed that the Bawal Ang Epal Dito confronts the issues of external pressures and eliminates the misconception of the beneficiaries about the control of politicians or parties over Pantawid Pamilya. More importantly, it seeks to empower the beneficiaries to know their rights and to be vigilant of individuals and / or groups who plan to use the program o push for their personal agenda she further explained. DSWD 8 Awards Partners

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 8 awarded three partners from non-government organizations (NGO) and local government units, who significantly provided successful social protection programs to marginalized and vulnerable sectors of the region during the culmination night of the department’s 62nd anniversary celebration last February 6, 2013, at the Leyte Park Hotel, Tacloban City.

This year’s awardees were: South Pacific Integrated Agricultural Development Foundation Inc. (SPIADFI); Municipality of Javier, Leyte for the “Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan” (GAPAS) Award; and Province of Leyte for the “Gawad sa Makabagong Teknolohiya” for introducing the biometric system for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The Municipality of Javier and Province of Leyte also received the same recognition at the national level during the DSWD anniversary celebration, held last February 1, 2013 in Manila.

“The “Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon Ko sa Bayan” (PaNaTa) awards is our way of expressing gratitude and appreciation to our partners,” says DSWD Regional Director Remia Tapispisan. The “PaNaTa Ko Sa Bayan” Awrds aims to recognize partners stakeholders in appreciation with their unending support in the implementation of social protection programs at their own level.

In a related development, the biometrics technology is now being replicated in Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, particularly in Maguindanao and Lanao Del Sur.
